Josh and I met in August of 2004 in a Radio Production Class at CSUN. He had just moved out to Los Angeles from Atlanta to continue his degree in screen writing. He was tall, skinny, nerdy and had no fashion sense whatsoever, but I was inclined to sit next to him. Our very first outing together outside of school was a trip to Panda Express. We remained friends until August 2007 when we finally decided that we couldn't fool ourselves any longer and started dating.
Ever since then, Panda Express became "our" thing. It's not fancy, or gourmet, but it was ours - so any time we wanted to celebrate anything, or have a special meal before his work trips, that's what we did.
In December of 2008, we decided to just go look at some rings, and an hour later, we were leaving the store with a gorgeous 1 carat solitaire. Little did I know that Josh would lock up this ring and wait almost 4 months to propose.
I didn't need an actual ring to start planning the wedding however. I went to bridal shows, picked out my theme, and even purchased a gown.
But the night finally came towards the end of March. I had gotten home from work and was headed back out to the gym when Josh asked if I wanted Panda Express for dinner. I declined, being that I was now on a strict diet and excercise plan but he kept on insisting. I finally gave in and told him what I wanted.
When I got home from the gym, he had our food set out on our coffee table and we ate and watched the simpsons - just a normal night in, or so it seemed. When we were done with our food, he pulled out the fortune cookie and set it in front of me. I knew the wrapper didn't look right, but I pushed the thought aside and kept opening it. When I cracked the cookie in half, I knew what was up. All I had to read was the first two words of the question, "Will you" and I knew what was happening. I pulled the rest of the cookie off to reveal "marry me?" and I looked over at Josh.
He had the ring in his hands in front of me and I said "finally". He got down on one knee and asked me again "Will you marry me?". I burst into tears and said yes!
And wouldn't you know - he got it all caught on camera (including me stuffing my face with Panda Express!)
Our wedding will be taking place at the gorgeous Falkner Winery in Temecula, CA on Sunday May 2, 2010 at Five Thirty in the evening.
