Laura's Story: I remember first meeting Steve in the summer of 1975 ~ what a little hottie ~ his best friend had a crush on me and brought Steve along for "back-up". They would come over every day and hang out and it was during that time I developed a real crush on him instead. I was very shy about those things and of course never said anything, besides, it wouldn't have been right in light of his friend. I didn't see Steve after that summer until the mid 90's at Joe Lewis's wedding and by then we were both married with children and managed only a cursory "hello". Jump to May 15, 2004 and Roosevelt High School All Class Reunion . . . there was a "last dance" in the gym that night and there was no way I was going to miss that! That night I get a tap on my shoulder and when I turned around there he was and asked . . ."do you remember me?" I'm thinking . . . "Hell yeah!" Three days later I get a call ~ he had called Joe for my phone number and there he was telling me he had a good time that night and wouldn't it be great to "hang out" sometime, go dancing or whatever. I asked him what he was doing and invited him for coffee and man oh man did my life make a U-turn at that point. Life was terribly complicated at that point, but we both made our way through our own personal "stuff" and the rest is history or herstory.
Unconventional! Frankly I'm not really interested in doing anything by the book when it comes to our wedding.
We'll be staying at the Fairmont in downtown Seattle on our Wedding night and then leave for Maui on the 3rd of September! We're really excited as Steve & I love to travel and haven't been to Hawaii together. Steve, being the guy he is, will want to re-explore every inch of the island and we'll be looking at a number of exciting activities ~ from parasailing, to snorkeling, to whale watching! I just hope I can convince him to spend a little time on the beach relaxing in the sun!
Family and friends are extremely important to both of us and more than anything we wanted to share our joy and our wedding with all the people we love so much!
