We met in high school--I remember seeing Ben in the halls and feeling my heart race with excitement, but it wasn't until 7 years later that we had our first date. Over the course of the next 3 years we became each other's best friend. We challenge each other, support one another, and never go to bed angry; even if that means staying up well into the early morning.
Christmas 2007 I was positive that Ben was going to propose. I spent 2 nights laying awake with excitement, my stomach filled with butterflies, but it wasn't until August 3rd, 2009 that he got down on his knee in the pouring rain and asked me to be his wife.
We were at Bear Brook State Park with our dog, Gage. We were hiking through the woods trying to follow the map and find a fly fishing spot for Ben, but before we did dark storm clouds moved in. With a large metal pole strapped to Ben's back, which held his fly fishing rod, we thought it would be smart to find our way back to the car. On our way it began to downpour. I was hurrying down the trail and realized Ben wasn't with me. I turned around and saw him digging through his backpack. He said he was looking for his rain gear. He caught up to me and as I head back down the trail, he grabbed my arm and spun me around. He smiled at me and bent down onto his knee. I couldn't believe it was happening! I jumped up and down, smiling and laughing with nervous excitement. He asked me to marry him looking as nervous as I felt. I said "YES!" and we hugged and kissed. The rest of the way to the car I starred at my hand and stopped him for kisses every 10 feet. By the time we got back to the car we were completely soaked, but the sun had come out and the rest of the day was beautiful.
It is still surreal. I get very excited at the thought of being Mrs. Bride and what the future holds for us. The only thing I am sure of is that there will be ups and downs, but through it all, I wil have my best friend by my side sharing all of it with me.
Our wedding will be held at Steele Hill Resort in Sanbornton, NH. It sits atop a large hill which overlooks Lake Winnipisaukee. It has a 9-hole golf course, 2 swimming pools, horseshoes, tennis, playgrounds, etc. There are rooms reserved under "Perkins" for the wedding. Please mention that you are a wedding guest when making your reservation.
On Firday afternoon, we will hold our rehersal for the ceremony and then have a BBQ party for all who are staying at the resort to attend. We are hoping to have an accoustical band that night as well.
Saturday is open so that every guest may relax however they like. The wedding will be at 4:30 on the lawn overlooking the lake.
Cocktail hour will follow from 5-6pm on the patio and then we will move into the reception area for a delicious buffet dinner and dancing until midnight!
